The cathedral, erected in honor of the guardian and defender of the Russian land, the holy Prince Alexander Nevsky, is located on the main street of the city of Novosibirsk, Krasny Prospekt (formerly Nikolaevsky). This is the first stone church in the city and one of the first stone buildings in Novosibirsk, before Novonikolaevsk.
